Manual therapy Tilburg for women

Manual therapy is a specialist manual approach in which the therapist uses various "hands-on" techniques to diagnose and treat pain conditions. These pain conditions often the involve the joints, the surrounding soft tissues and the nervous system.

Manual therapy is very effective in reducing pain, stiffness and myofascial restrictions. It also helps reduce inflammation and accelerates our body's natural ability to heal itself.

Are you experiencing physical discomfort? The manual therapists at JUNO Health & Wellness are here for you, and would love to help.

      Frequently asked questions

How long does a manual therapy treatment last?

The duration of treatment depends on whether it is a new complaint or a follow-up appointment for an existing complaint. If you are attending with a new complaint for the first time, 60 minutes are taken to complete a comprehensive screening, intake and examination, including a first treatment. For follow-up appointments, half an hour is often sufficient.

What does a manual therapy treatment cost?

      The initial consultation lasts 60 minutes and consists of two parts;

      1. screening, intake and examination manual therapy at € 55
      2. manual therapy treatment at € 55

For follow-up appointments, the manual therapy rate of €55 per 30 minutes applies.

Can I claim the cost from the health insurance company?

JUNO works contract-free. This means that you first receive and pay my invoice yourself. Then you submit the bill to your health insurer for reimbursement. It varies per health insurer how much you will be reimbursed. Therefore, before making an appointment, always consult your policy conditions and/or email your insurer in advance how much you will be reimbursed.

How does manual therapy reduce your pain?

It is a common misconception that joints can be painful because they are "in the wrong place" and that a manual technique reduces pain by "putting the joint back in place". This is only the case in acute dislocation.

Pain and pain perception is very complex and involves different parts of our brain and nervous systems. Recent scientific evidence shows that manual therapy applied to joints and soft tissues works on two different levels to help reduce pain:

      • At the level of the spinal cord

Manual techniques stimulate the nerve receptors in the joints and connective tissue that send messages to the spinal cord, blocking incoming messages to the spinal cord from the painful area.

      • Inside the brain

Manual techniques stimulate the brain regions involved in pain modulation, causing the brain to release its own form of natural painkillers and inhibit incoming messages from the painful area.

This is important to understand. Incorrect beliefs regarding the mechanism of pain can contribute to its maintenance or exacerbation in the long term.

The pain reduction you experience as a result of manual therapy allows you to move more with less pain and discomfort. It is important that you continue to move and perform the specific exercises given by the therapist to maximise the effects of manual therapy.
